Army/Navy Game & NFL Wk 14 Recap

[00:00:00] Cole Ingle: It's

[00:00:05] Stoy Hall: time for another week. Um, obviously not much college recap this week. No. This week's show, as you can see by the title is about NFL frauds. We will pick up a little bit of the NFL playoffs, but there was some fraudulent behavior happening in the nfl. Uh, and then we'll obviously get to our news and Twitter.

[00:00:25] There's a lot of it. A lot of it, and some of it is. good. And some of it is sad. Yeah,

[00:00:32] Cole Ingle: it's sad. Yeah. Good, bad, and

[00:00:33] Stoy Hall: sad. So that's what we're gonna do today. I'm gonna let you start the recap while I shoot this out to everybody so we can hopefully get a listener or two.

[00:00:42] Cole Ingle: Absolutely. Um, start out, uh, the only college football game of the week.

[00:00:49] Last weekend was the Army-Navy game, and , if a game could have ever lived up to an expectation. In all of the wrong and right ways. Uh, the Army Navy game was that they did it, uh, it did. Its thing came out. Navy dominated first quarter, uh, looked like eventually that they'd just figured out a way to just kind of handle the game.

[00:01:19] Never gonna be a blowout, um, per se. But Army couldn't do anything. Then they blocked a punt, um, and got a little momentum. and then it was 10 to 10 and we were headed for overtime, and that under of 32 and a half was looking just beautiful. Just like

[00:01:38] Stoy Hall: on track. Like how? How would it not, right?

[00:01:42] Cole Ingle: Oh, but I mean, I'm talking probably second quarter as we're headed to halftime.

[00:01:47] Obviously looking for another score going into half, but I'm thinking at that point, the only way this is getting to the over. is overtime. Yeah. And so I'm in and out, you know, watching a little bit here and there.

[00:02:02] Stoy Hall: Excited about

[00:02:03] Cole Ingle: life. Um, and then not able to watch the overtime or anything like that. But the fact that they both got touchdowns in overtime, which was impressive in its own right for the way that those two teams played offense,

[00:02:14] Stoy Hall: and those two touchdowns were

[00:02:15] Cole Ingle: impressive.

[00:02:16] Right. And so now you get to 34 and then you get a fumble by Navy on the one yard. , uh, army recovers, and then Army just has to kick a field goal to win it, and ultimately they do. Uh, stoy. You had Army who was plus one and a half. Let's get it. You had them covering and winning and I had Navy, um, covering the one and a half.

[00:02:40] Uh, so obviously winning and covering however the streak has been, Snapp. It's such a 17 years.

[00:02:49] Stoy Hall: It, it's such, it, it is the most army, navy way to snap it to Absolutely. Because they have never gone to overtime. Right. Not once in the history. So the

[00:02:58] Cole Ingle: only way to snap it was, uh, so 17 year str uh, streak of the under hitting.

[00:03:04] Um, and still an absurd rate for, um, any type of academy games. Uh, it's 95 or something like that. Percent of, of, uh, Those games go under this one, like I said, took overtime, took two touchdowns and a fuel goal in overtime, uh, to get to the over, but I nailed it. This was the year, um,

[00:03:28] Stoy Hall: this was the year and I'm pretty sure.

[00:03:30] So I'm pretty sure I said I'm going to bet it right. And it's going to come back.

[00:03:36] Cole Ingle: It'll find and it'll find a way, find a

[00:03:38] Stoy Hall: way, and it did. And in the most tragic way. Yeah. The hell goes to over it, like over. Those overtime touchdowns are sweet though, Michael

[00:03:48] Cole Ingle: Fonda finally hit it over. Interesting way to get there and really in the only way that really makes sense for that game to go over.

[00:03:55] Yeah. So, um, a good college football game, like I said, lived up to exactly what the Army Navy hype was as far as being a close competitive game with limited scoring cuz both teams are so familiar with the systems and, uh,

[00:04:08] Stoy Hall: but I also thought the play calling specifically for Army was just, For like three and a half quarters.

[00:04:15] Yeah. Was just putrid, you're doing this, you, you didn't try anything. Right. And then when they started throwing and trying things, oh, look at that. It opened some stuff up. Started winning. Right. And, and don't, yes. They ran all game. And they could have been surprised. Don't, no, they were. That was not it. Yeah.

[00:04:32] Not it. But, and

[00:04:32] Cole Ingle: I don't watch enough of the other Armed Forces games throughout the year to know, you know, are they a little. . Yeah. Do they keep it closer to the vest in these games? Just knowing that one mistake can make or break? You know? Is it a familiarity thing? It's probably a combination of a lot of things, cuz neither one of those teams was considered low scoring during the year.

[00:04:55] This year. Like they were above what they would normally even be. Right. Throughout the year. I mean, a couple games for each of them. 21 points, uh, was all on either side. So, um, that's ultimately what led me to take the over was just like, Hey, maybe they are a little bit more dynamic and not as good on defense, not the case when we watched on Saturday.

[00:05:15] But the over nonetheless. Um, I'm gonna

[00:05:18] Stoy Hall: go with the under one, uh, because it was in, um, regular time, not extra time. Okay. Yep. I'm gonna steal that. It's world cup time. So. I'm just saying, uh, you

[00:05:28] Cole Ingle: do what you gotta do. .

[00:05:30] Stoy Hall: Let's, we could just not talk about the

[00:05:32] Cole Ingle: week of the nfl. So, uh, NFL week 14, uh, another week where we agreed a lot in another week.

[00:05:40] Oh.

[00:05:55] I was gonna get physically ill and then let you flush it, but Oh, um, that's fine. That's fair. Yeah. Next time,

[00:06:00] Stoy Hall: uh, I see what you're doing. I like that. Uh, yeah, gross. Um, the Raiders come out hot, like I went 10, nothing. Yeah. Um, throwing the rock, just nothing. They were not getting stopped. And then I decided to, I don't know what I did.

[00:06:17] I walked away and I made dinner. Wasn't

[00:06:19] Cole Ingle: paying attention. It was 16 to three with five minutes left. And then I'm like, what? So we nailed the under, we, we nailed the Rams on being able to do anything. The Raiders doing some, but still not being, I mean, the total was 44 and a half. And even then, this game didn't get within double digits.

[00:06:36] No. Like,

[00:06:38] Stoy Hall: and it went exactly how we thought it would and then it, then it stopped. Yeah.

[00:06:44] Cole Ingle: Michael penalties, a couple dumb plays by the Raiders. Dumb uh, lack of ability to get a first down on third and half a yard . Um, and then a 98 yard drive from the guy who'd hadn't, I'm not sure he is, he was ever in the locker room.

[00:07:02] Might've just got the pads on the way out to the field. Baker Mayfield showed up Thursday night, showed out for show out for, uh, two drives. Yeah, at the end of. Uh, Tom Brady esque, uh, two teams in the last, I don't even know how long it was, uh, long history of the NFL have trailed by. Two, basically two scores, but two needing two touchdowns in the last five minutes of the game and come back and won the game.

[00:07:31] And those games happen, uh, five days apart. Uh, Tom Brady leading one team and the goat Baker Mayfield leading the other,

[00:07:39] Stoy Hall: let's not that , although I can't wait to see the right little tweets and stats later, especially on the Raiders too. Um, got some stats on them later of how bad. . I just abysmal. They are with lead.

[00:07:51] Cole Ingle: So, so we both had the Raiders covering six and under 44 and a half. Thankfully, uh, we hit the unders. Hey,

[00:08:00] Stoy Hall: Thursday night unders woo

[00:08:01] Cole Ingle: woo. So, um, that is, uh, a tie and a miss. Uh, next up we had the Vikings in the Lions, Minnesota, uh, will be mentioned, uh, later in the broadcast. Um, they. Vegas. Nailed 'em again.

[00:08:20] Um, Vegas has a pretty good pulse on the Vikings it seems, uh, for whatever reason. Sure. However reason. Um, but the lions, two and a half point favorites at home against Minnesota, gave up a lot of yards, didn't give up a ton of points, and their offense has been clicking. Um, 31, 23, I believe was the final 34.

[00:08:42] 23, actually 34 23. while in doubt because it's the lions and how the Vikings have come back. The lions controlled that game. Um, Minnesota was not able to run the football at all. Lions were kind of able to do both, um, and kind of control. Um, both line of scrimmage. Um, had a third and seven play action with a.

[00:09:07] Oh, it was so hilarious. Tackle eligible in motion. Awesome. For a first down to seal that game. It was awesome, penny Se. Yeah. Loved the hell. I mean, we're not talking third and two here though. No, I mean, we ran the tackle in motion, in Jet motion and then threw him the ball and there was, he had, he was so open that he had time to get eight yards as a six foot free Untouch 340 pound touch.

[00:09:34] uh, lineman, but, and,

[00:09:36] Stoy Hall: and he stayed in bounds, had the wherewithal to get down to stay

[00:09:39] Cole Ingle: in bounds, laid down, flopped down. Uh, so yeah, that was impressive. I, I enjoyed that. We both had, uh, Minnesota covering and winning. Um, and we both had the over of which we got the over everything hit. So, um, good job on the overruns for us there.

[00:09:58] uh, Texans, Cowboys. Uh, thankfully this game was not on tv. Uh, I actually, I watched it took a, and I didn't have Red Zone, um Oh, where I was at, and so I took a nap as you should have woke up to the Lions Vikings finish, which was on tv. That's exciting. So I kind of watched the end of that, and then the update of the Cowboys losing.

[00:10:27] and at the time that I woke up, I believe the Texans had first and goal. Oh, after the pick? Yeah. Um, I mean, yes, come to find out after the pick, but like, I'm just reading the Right, what's running on the screen or whatever. Maybe the, it was an endgame update or something looking at the score going well. Um, I'm glad I didn't have to watch it.

[00:10:44] Yeah. Uh, ultimately, you know, it's, you know, cowboys cowboy. At home. Yeah. Uh, they either seem to play a really close game or it's just a blowout. There doesn't seem to be much in between, but they go 98 yards in less than two minutes, and Zeke finishes it off with a touchdown run to win the game. And the Texans are happy because they pretty much sealed the first overall.

[00:11:13] One more loss this week. We'll do that for 'em. But, uh, man, they should have won.

[00:11:16] Stoy Hall: They should have, should have won that game.

[00:11:18] Cole Ingle: Um, Houston definitely. They should have won that game. Definitely covered the

[00:11:21] Stoy Hall: 17 . That was such a big number too. Yeah, such

[00:11:25] Cole Ingle: a big number. Number. Which, I mean, you said that last week and it's like, I don't, when have we,

[00:11:30] Stoy Hall: can you remember the last time you've seen 17 in the nfl?

[00:11:33] Oh, I mean, I don't even know where they got that from,

[00:11:35] Cole Ingle: right? I mean, well, the thing is, is when Dallas has been winning against bad teams, they Right. You look at the bears. Yeah. You look. This season when they've been able to run away with games at the end, literally. Mm-hmm. , they've won by four touchdowns.

[00:11:48] Yeah, three touchdowns. I just think it was a little skewed cuz

[00:11:50] Stoy Hall: of how they ran

[00:11:51] Cole Ingle: away. They knew they could get money on it, is the thing. I mean, that's, that's probably what it was, ultimately what it is. Vegas knew that they, they probably hadn't as much money on the cowboys, if not more, and then what they had on

[00:11:59] Stoy Hall: probably.

[00:12:00] But, so cowboys at home, big spread. Bad idea. Yeah. A bad. So,

[00:12:06] Cole Ingle: uh, yeah, you, uh, got the Cowboys, you got Houston covering the spread, however you had it going under. You didn't have Houston scoring 23. Did anybody? I, I didn't have Houston scoring 23, but I had Dallas scoring 40. So, so, uh, that was fair. Ended up hitting the over.

[00:12:24] So start, uh, that was about the only thing I did well this week, uh, for the first three games at least. Uh, so yeah, we, uh, split that and remained. next game, Sunday Night Football, because it's gonna make me physically ill. Uh, we have the Dolphins minus three, uh, at the Chargers. 52 and a half. Those, the total, uh, Tua will be another, um, person brought up.

[00:12:48] Yep. Later in the Dolphins. There's a theme show here and, uh, as Will Herbert. Um, but one quarterback showed up and the other one did. pooped himself.

[00:13:02] Stoy Hall: Probably's. Worst game. Well, worst game of the season.

[00:13:04] Cole Ingle: Well, I mean, there was last week . There's a trend. You're not, you're not wrong. Uh, so Miami obviously did not, uh, did not cover scored late to make this game look, um, more manageable than what it actually was, because I watched most of this game and it wasn't,

[00:13:21] Stoy Hall: it wasn't anything, um,

[00:13:22] Cole Ingle: nothing good.

[00:13:24] There's a lot of love for Herbert, but he earned it in. Uh, he really ball out. Yeah. What we can say. He slung it around the yard. They should have done that last week. Big moment moments. Um, and, and they made plays and, and the dolphins did not look good ultimately.

[00:13:40] Stoy Hall: Um, no, they

[00:13:41] Cole Ingle: looked really bad. So we had, uh, the over of 52 and a half and we had Miami on both ends of that minus three, and we missed all of 'em, so we went oph.

[00:13:53] Stoy Hall: That's good. Oh.

[00:13:58] Cole Ingle: but in a bad

[00:13:59] Stoy Hall: way. Yeah. We need like a negative Koon law.

[00:14:03] Cole Ingle: There we go. Wow. Yeah, that was so we, uh, so we continued that train. If you faded, you were Good Lord. So then the Patriots, uh, one and a half point favorites on Monday night went into Arizona. Uh, c Murray got hurt. Yes.

[00:14:23] Stoy Hall: Him, Terry's ACL changed, but I mean,

[00:14:26] Cole Ingle: Cole McCoy did fine.

[00:14:27] I know,

[00:14:28] Stoy Hall: but the second half it

[00:14:30] Cole Ingle: changed things. Um, the, well, I mean, what changed things was the fumble. No, I mean that too, if, if they score on that drive a game's completely different. The Cardinals. Mm-hmm. probably actually went game, said Hopkins fumbles doing, I'm not sure what with the football. Yeah. And the Patriots scoop score was not taught, um, then that's what flipped that game.

[00:14:51] Yeah. Uh, Mack Jones was yelling at the sideline ignoring play calls again, which was fantastic. Um, I see a trend happening. I, you know, the cardinals we know are bad and the Patriots, uh, aren't much better. They'll come up later as well. Um, you hit the under of 44 and a half, woo woo. And I had the over,

[00:15:12] Stoy Hall: that's it right there.

[00:15:13] That was the ball game came down to Monday night Football

[00:15:16] Cole Ingle: that, uh, over under is what it came down to thing. So, um, should. We'll click back real quick to college football. Just a, a quick reason why Stoy is also holding a shitty shot here. Um, the Heisman Trophy, which not a ton of, uh, interest in overall things, kind of with injuries and whatnot.

[00:15:41] Uh, the way the, the season kind of unfolded, nobody really cared that much. Every year's a little bit different, but this year it felt like even more. Uh, but at the beginning of the year, uh, as I had USC making the college football playoff, um, which they did not, um, I also kind of doubled down on that in the fact that thinking that they would make the playoff Caleb Williams would win the Heisman.

[00:16:05] Uh, Caleb Williams did still end up winning the Heisman, uh, as ret retribution for that story is partaking, um, in a shitty shot today with me. So, Which thought I'd share that real quick. Um, besides that, I don't think either one of us, uh, nor anyone else out there really wants to hear about the Heisman. Uh, cuz I don't know that if they just didn't give one this year, I don't think anybody would've cared.

[00:16:28] Not at all.

[00:16:28] Stoy Hall: So, not at all. Not this year was not exciting because fourth injuries

[00:16:34] Cole Ingle: for the week, uh, soy was five and 10 and I was, uh, four and 11, three of those being, um, total bits.

[00:16:42] Stoy Hall: Oh, really good. Oh good. Really good

[00:16:45] Cole Ingle: stuff. The fade.

[00:16:55] Stoy Hall: Well, screwball peanut butter. Yeah, screwball always delicious.

[00:17:00] Cole Ingle: To the misfits. Black sheep and screwballs. You go here. Here you're here.

[00:17:06] Stoy Hall: Alright. Right. Uh, bets of the week though. Uh, Tennessee decided to not. That's, they're, they're in a down trend too. Pretty sure they're on the list. Um, so that money line lock didn't hit Cole with Seattle also, also on a conversation later.

[00:17:23] Yeah. Spread lock plus nine with Denver and kc. Look at your boy pick in Denver. boo.

[00:17:30] Cole Ingle: Never a doubt.

[00:17:31] Stoy Hall: Never. Never a doubt. I mean,

[00:17:34] Cole Ingle: you get Downs 28, nothing. Yeah. You

[00:17:37] Stoy Hall: always expect to cover. You always expect to cover. Yeah. Um, so that was, that

[00:17:41] Cole Ingle: happened. The chiefs tried to pull and then Old Atlanta trick there.

[00:17:45] Stoy Hall: They sure did. Mm-hmm. . They sure did actually. No, no. We moved on to Raiders trick. Oh, it's not, it's not land. We've, the stat will show later. Oh, that's fair. It's proven that, mm-hmm. . Um, but, uh, Denver, I mean, Denver just didn't, still didn't look good. I don't care about what Kansas City score they scored 28 points.

[00:18:02] I know. Which is the most they've

[00:18:03] Cole Ingle: scored. It's like twice as much as they usually scored. Almost two and a half points. Almost three. Yeah.

[00:18:08] Stoy Hall: Yeah. Then their quarterback, um, in the words of Robby Younger went. Thies on the field. Oh, yeah. It's awesome. He was seeing things. The crazy thing to me was the size of the knot on his head.

[00:18:21] Yeah. You,

[00:18:21] Cole Ingle: you shouldn't try to dive straight in the

[00:18:26] Stoy Hall: No, no, no, no, no. You shouldn't. Also, you, um, you could just slid like normal.

[00:18:34] Cole Ingle: Oh, he's trying to show some toughness.

[00:18:36] Stoy Hall: Yeah. Oh. Finally, off season.

[00:18:40] Cole Ingle: Yeah. Well, better than never. Yeah.

[00:18:43] Stoy Hall: So yeah, he got concussed, but anyways, covered. Uh, and then Philly, my

[00:18:49] Cole Ingle: Lord. Oh, I mean, we got the best team in football and you got the team that, uh, is also gonna be

[00:18:55] Stoy Hall: later.

[00:18:55] The giants are doing giant things. The giant things do mm-hmm. and, you know, I almost don't feel, actually, I don't at all feel bad for New York fans because they've got, like, the Mets do the same shit. Just falter at the end, right? That's what's happened with, with the Gman, uh, over under lock CIN Cleveland under 47 half.

[00:19:12] That was, that was okay. Is easiest stuff. Um, Cole missed the Kansas City, Denver because, just barely, um, yeah, just barely.

[00:19:21] Cole Ingle: Well, I mean, here's the thing. Um, Kansas City scored how many, uh, 34. Right? So, , you know, and you're

[00:19:29] Stoy Hall: thinking 34 10 should have been 31 10 max. Like, like I, I, I liked it. No, I don't. Just saying that it didn't happen.

[00:19:37] No, no, no. Um, and then DJ pick with, uh, for me was Minnesota and Baltimore at plus 3 79. Wow. That's, uh, yeah, that was unfortunate. And then yours was DJ and pick with Cleveland Witch didn't, I mean, Deshawn, that's

[00:19:53] Cole Ingle: a normal ass. Deshawn wants a. . We'll talk later. He's not good. We'll

[00:19:59] Stoy Hall: talk later. So that's a recap.

[00:20:00] Recap. Boom.

[00:20:05] Cole Ingle: Well then it's time.
